Can Joy and Grief Coexsist?

Sometimes I come across an article or a video, (in in the case - BOTH) that does a much better job than I at explaining something.  Today's post is one of those times.  I would like to encourage you to check out the short article HERE , and to take the 15 minutes to watch the video attached. The speech is called "Beyond Closure" and is from a TED conference.  Nancy Berns does such an amazing job of explaining that joy and grief can coexist in the same person, in the same space, at the same time.  She beautifully explains how our culture wants anyone grieving to have closure , but that it is not only not possible, but it's not best. Seriously.  Great video.  Check it out. I recently experienced this question in real life - Can joy and grief coexist?  It was this past Saturday.  Kyle was away all morning helping a friend move, and I was home with the kids.  There was a lot of excitement in the air, because Joel knew his 5th birthday party...

Feeling the Love

I'm almost 37 weeks now and am feeling so exhausted.  I'm grateful my hubby is home today and has given me a break with the kiddos.  I can't quite pinpoint why I'm feeling so tired, but I can assume it has to do with my emotionally draining day yesterday... New Year, New Rule

Hello readers!!  Since launching this new blog (after my original was no longer big or strong enough for my needs), we've had over 5,000 hits!  So, although I don't know who you all are, I must take the time to say THANK YOU.  I do know that the Facebook Tribute Page I set up, Remembering Gabriel , continues to be "liked" by more and more people.  People I do not know.  So, whoever you are, however you got here - thank you for reading!! I've decided to be more consistent with my blog writing and have concluded that I will be making weekly posts.  No matter what.  Every Wednesday.  So, that way if I'm on a Facebook hiatus (which is about to happen from January 6th - 27th) or you think you've missed a post along the way, you as the reader will know that every Wednesday you can check in here. That being said, I really don't enjoy reading blog posts that don't have much to say.  So, if I don't have something to share - something significant g...
