Gabe's Walk


Sometimes I forget that I have blog readers who aren't necessarily my Facebook friend, or even real life friend.  So, forgive me that this post is a little late.  Saturday October 13th was our 3rd annual Gabriel Walk & 5K.  It was our most successful year, yet!  We had more sponsors this year than in the past, and we also held a successful Open House to raise additional funds.

So, if you helped us out in anyway, now is the time to take your pat on the back - THANK YOU.  Building Gabriel's Fund is the way our family has chosen to have his name and legacy live on - so that teens in our area can hear about the love of our precious Jesus.  Without your help, none of this is possible.  So, thank you.

Meeting Angie Smith

Almost a month ago now, I had the amazing opportunity to meet Angie Smith! She is married to the lead singer of the Christian band, Selah, and the story of their daughter Audrey is heard through their song " I Will Carry You." (Click here to listen that song, and see amazing photographs from her family.)  I haven't seen it yet, but I just read that the Duggars found so much comfort through those lyrics, that they used them in the episode about losing their sweet daughter, Jubilee. Along with being a mom of, now, FIVE girls, Angie is also amazingly funny - both in person and on her blog, Bring the Rain . She's an author of two books , and although she's very frightened by it, is an amazing public speaker! She's so real, so hysterical, so lovely. Celebrating Ten Years

So, next Wednesday is January 16th.  And that is the day of our big ultrasound.  And that is the day that Kyle and I officially celebrate ten years together.  Craziness.  So, this post is technically a week early, but I will be busy updating you all with (hopefully) great news about this baby during my next post - and my hubby deserves a blog entry all for himself... Kyle and I met in his college dorm room late at night... it's not what you think.  My twin brother, his roommate, had come to fetch me and bring me back to Towson University to have a relaxing weekend away.  I had just returned from Hawaii, after divorcing my military, abusive, drug-addicted husband.  I wasn't necessarily looking for love, but when I walked in that room and saw Kyle's smile, I was smitten.  Then, from his top bunk, he lowered his arm to shake my hand.  Oh em gee.  Men actually do that?  There are men alive who actually have manners?  Yeah.  ...

THE Question - Part III

I have blogged about this before.   Twice actually.   You can read about it here and here .   But, here’s the thing.   Answering the question, “How many children do you have” is not exactly getting any easier.   I met a new mom at my church on Sunday.   And, of course, I got asked THE question.   I answered, “three” really quickly and then started asking her as many questions as I could think of, hoping we’d just skip the part where I have to actually describe all three of my kids.   But, she was a kind woman, and eventually we got back on the subject of me when she asked, “So what are your kids’ ages?” Darnit!   So close!   So, then I had to give my generic answer, “Joel is almost four, Zoe is almost ten months, and Gabriel passed away shortly after birth.” And then, it happened.   She got all sad and pitiful.   That is NEVER my intention – to make someone feel badly.   It just happens.   So, of course...
